DOC Inmate Search

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requires that all inmate records be accessible and available to the public. The Alabama Department of Corrections offers a database that allows the public to access offender's details in person or through an online website.

To perform the search, visit the DOC'S website and input the offender's first and last name or the AIS number. If you use the inmate's name, the results list all incarcerated inmates matching the criteria you entered. The results you obtain from the search include the offender's gender, facility incarcerated, offense committed, physical description, bookings, arrests, release date, and court dates.

Inmate Escapes Search

Cases of offenders escaping from jail are rare. However, if they happen, the state prisoner lookup website lists all the names of the escapees along with their AIS numbers. In addition, the department's Public Information Manager Offers any other details on the listed escapees to news organizations and entities.

If you get any details concerning an escapee in the state, you should call 91 or visit your local police department to provide the details.

Alabama Death Row Search

The Alabama DOC publishes a list of offenders currently on death row. In most cases, the list is sorted alphabetically by last name, year of birth, or date put on death row. Clicking on the inmate's name will take you to the offender profile with a brief physical description, case number, crime committed, and time already served, among other details.

Alabama Jail Inmate Search

In Alabama, offenders awaiting trial and inmates serving short sentences are held in city or county jails. Alabama's jails operate under the management of the sheriff's office. Therefore, you can visit or contact the sheriff's office if you want to search for an inmate in any of Alabama's jails.

On the other hand, you can search jail inmate lookup by visiting the specific county site. The sites have resources like an inmate locator or jail contact details which you can use to find an inmate.

Alabama Sex Offender Search

In Alabama, an individual may be regarded as a sex offender for violating specific provisions of the Code of Alabama or committing crimes stated in the code. Some sex offenses include rape, sexual torture, or sodomy, among others.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency lists all registered sex offenders in the state. You can search by name or by geographical location. After submitting the information, you will view a list of all registered sex offenders matching the criteria you entered. Some of the results you obtain from the search include the offender's full name, photographs, address, physical description, arrests, mug shot, facility incarcerated, sex crime committed, release dates, and court date.

On the other hand, you can perform the search from third-party websites. However, some information from the sites may vary from the original files. In addition, the information may be outdated and incorrect.

Alabama ICE Locator

If a loved one is detained in ICE custody, you can find them using the Online Detainee Locator System. However, the online locator system cannot find information on individuals under the age of 18 years.

Below are the main searchable options:

Search by A-Number

If you are familiar with the detainee's A-Number, the ICE advises you to use it to find a detainee. The A-Number is a unique nine-digit number given to noncitizens when their A-File is designed. If the A-Number has fewer digits, you should add zeros at the beginning. During the search, you should remember to include the detainee's country of birth for better results.

Search by Biographical Information

When searching by biographical information, you must provide the detainee's name, date of birth, and age. If you encounter problems performing the search, you should try looking for misspellings, reversed names, or removing or adding a hyphen. In addition, remember to include the detainee's country of birth in the search box.
