Arizona Inmate Search

Arizona
Updated on: December 12, 2022

Inmate records are public records according to the Freedom of Information Act. Therefore, the details should be in such a way that the public can conveniently access them. For this reason, the Arizona Department of Corrections keeps a database detailing all currently incarcerated offenders in the state's 13 correctional facilities. You can access details in various ways, but the most convenient I through online sites.

To search, you can use the state offender locator. The locator tool is searchable by the ADC number and name. Search by ADC number allows you to input the offender inmate incarceration number. It is the most accurate search method, as each offender has a unique identifying number. The search results list all the offenders matching the provided criteria. When using the option, it's possible to narrow the search results by specifying the offender's gender and current incarceration status.

Jail Inmate Search

Local law enforcement agencies such as police departments and sheriff's offices offer specific details on how to find out if an individual is incarcerated in jail. However, an offender search in Arizona is the fastest way to locate an individual in jail. Most local facilities in Arizona keep an official site where you can conduct a county jail search.

To initiate the search, visit the county, city, or town official website and look for the page listing the sheriff's department or police department. The website contains an inmate roster or jail log. Alternatively, you can visit the facility or contact the jail directly to find out if an inmate is incarcerated in that particular facility.

Sex Offender Search

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) is in charge of maintaining the sex offender registry in the state. The sex offender registry records, updates, and verifies the offender's address, name, and photographs. According to the law, all registered sex offenders must report providing their details to law enforcement agencies such as the sheriff's office.

You can locate sex offenders in your neighborhood by visiting an online database. The website is designed for community notification to take necessary measures. You can search by address, name, city, zip code, area, residency, or county.

Locating an ICE Detainee

Different reasons can lead someone to be detained in ICE custody. For instance, you may be arrested for entering the country illegally if the judgment hasn't been made on your political asylum case and finally following orders given by a judge for your deportation or while a removal proceeding is pending. When a family member or a friend is taken into immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, it can be quite an overwhelming experience. It becomes even more stressful if you have no idea which facility the loved one is in and what procedures to follow for their release. Luckily, ICE can find someone held through the Online Detainee Locator System.

The locator tool provides the following searchable options;

Search by A-Number

If you are familiar with the detainee's A-Number, you are advised to use it as it provides the best results. The A-Number is a unique nine-digit number offered to noncitizens when their A-File is made. If the A-Number has fewer numbers, you should add zeros at the beginning. Alongside the A-Number, you should include the detainee's country of birth. You can find the A-Number on immigration documents such as immigrant fee handouts, green cards, work permits, and passport visa stamps.

Search by Biographical Information

When searching a detainee by biographical details, you must provide the detainee's name, age, and date of birth. You should remember that the detainee's name should be an exact match. If you encounter challenges during the search, you should check for misspellings, adding or remove a hyphen, and reversing names.
