The program keeps track of details on the inmate's incarceration status, escapes, release, probation, and parole. An automated message or phone call from the prisoner's caseworker is sent if the incarceration status of an inmate changes. Those who register may receive the updates via phone calls, messages, emails, letters, or all.

How to locate an offender in an ICE Detention Facility

With six Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facilities, you can also check if your inmate happens to be an immigrant. To check if the inmate is in any of these facilities, visit the ICE Detainee Locator System to search detainees using their legal names, ICE-issued numbers, or country of origin. 

Although locating ICE detainees is difficult at times, as many do not provide their real names, you may try to locate a name that does not exist. If you are still unable to find them, you can contact your locate field agent, who will help you try to locate them. These agents have the database of all the inmates entering the ICE system; thus, they may identify the inmate by even a physical description. 

Locating inmates using third-party websites

You can also locate inmates using third-party websites that offer access to Vermont public records. You must have the inmate's full name to search using these websites. You can search these databases by facility name, year of incarceration, or charges. 

However, you should be aware that these websites are not affiliated with any government entity, so their information may differ from the one on the actual websites of the government entity.
